Indian Institute of Technology Placement season started.
IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) has started its placement season on December 1, 2019. Over 400 organisations are participating to recruit the students from India and abroad. Companies have been offering over 600 profiles in various sectors including Core, Consulting, Information Technology, Finance, Analytics and Teaching & Research.

IIT Madras saw 20 companies making 102 offers in first session, IIT Bombay had 110 offers. IIT Hyderabad saw 53 offers from 15 companies and IIT Delhi, 150 from 26 companies
On Day 1 (Dec 1, 2019) of the placement season, IIT Delhi students achieved highest number of placement offers as 419 including 175 pre-placement offers (PPOs). 4 students from this institute have been offered international placement in core companies.
A handful of students from IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi, secured international offers with annual packages worth over Rs. 1 crore each. In Bombay, there were three students with such offers from Microsoft, Optiver and Uber. One IIT Bombay student was offered an international position with a pay-package of Rs 1.5 crore.
Microsoft provided maximum number of placement offers to 30 students including 2 international offers, followed by Intel which gave 27 domestic offers to the students. Other international offers include one from Uber USA and another from Squarepoint Singapore. Other giant companies offering a quite good number of offers included Qualcomm with 16 offers and Goldman Sachs with 12 offers.
IIT Hyderabad also received six international offers from companies like TSMC, SMS DataTech and NTT-AT. In all, Microsoft made 17 offers, including to five women students. Similarly, out of three offers from Goldman Sachs, two were secured by women students. 10 number of students from IIT Roorkee have secured international offers. IIT Guwahati received 80 offers from domestic and international companies.

“The achievement has taught me that there will always be an option if we choose to persevere,” said Swati Jaiswal, a Master's student from computer science department at Hyderabad, who bagged an offer from Microsoft.
T. G. Sitharam, director, IIT Guwahati said: "The number of recruiters coming to campus has seen an upswing this year.” The institute received a total of 119 pre-placement offers this year, up from 100 last year.
Prof. V Ramgopal Rao, Director, IIT Delhi said: "We are happy to see a robust start to our placement season with record number of Placements on the first day. We are also happy to see a large number of IIT Delhi students preferring domestic careers over international placements. Another interesting aspect is also about students choosing careers in core sectors. These trends indeed augur well for the country."
