City based Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hindi Vishwavidyalaya (Bhopal) earlier demanded to make an option for the students to write MBBS course in Hindi language. The proposal was submitted in the executive council meeting of MCI with the view that there is no problem in granting permission to allow the varsity to start MBBS course in Hindi if books and medical journals are available as MCI conducts medical entrance examination in Hindi too.
The MCI has rejected the request of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hindi Vishwavidyalaya. The matter has been in the limelight for very long. The university had demanded from the apex Medical regulator to let the students pursue the MBBS degree course and write their exams in Hindi, as long as it is not possible for it to have Hindi as another medium of instruction.
