AILET

All India Law Entrance Test (AILET 2018) is a university level entrance exam for admission to B.A. LL.B (Hons.), LL.M and Ph.D. programs. NLU Delhi is the organizing body of AILET.

This is a national level exam which is conducted once a year for various law courses. The exam helps candidates get admission in various UG and PG law courses in National Law University, Delhi. AILET 2018 exam has been scheduled on May 6, 2018.

National Law University Delhi (NLU-Delhi) is a specialized law university offering courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. It is one of the elite national law schools in India built on the five-year law degree model proposed and implemented by the Bar Council of India.

Eligibility Criteria:

B.A., LL.B. (Hons.)- Five-Year Programme:

Eligibility: Candidates should have passed Senior Secondary School Examination (10+2) or equivalent examination in any discipline with 50% marks. Students appearing in the 12th standard examination in March/April, 2017 can also apply.

Age: Applicants should be below 20 years as on 1 July 2018 (23 years in case of SC/ST candidates).

Class 12th appearing candidates are also allowed to apply for the exam. 

LL.M. (One year):

Eligibility: Aspirants should complete LL.B. or an equivalent degree with 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST/ Persons with Disability). The candidates appearing in final LL.B. examination in April/May, 2017 can also apply.

Candidates appearing in final year exam of LL.B are also eligible to register for AILET 2018 exam. 

Total Seats: 20 + 5 seats for Foreign Nationals

Ph.D Programme:

Eligibility: Applicants having LL.M. Degree with 55% marks or its equivalent (50% in case of SC/ST/ Persons with Disability) are eligible for the examination.

Application process:

Aspirants need to apply online on the official website after releasing the online application form.

Steps to Apply for AILET 2018:

Step 1- Registration

  • By visiting the official website of NLU Delhi, candidates can register themselves.
  • Candidates will have to provide basic details like- E-mail ID, name, contact number, residential address, parents’ name and Date of Birth.

Step 2 - Filling the Application Form

After filling the basic details, candidates need to choose the course and college of their choice.

Step 3 - Upload Images

In this step, candidates are required to upload the scanned images of their photograph (as per the specifications).

Step 4 - AILET payment of Application Fee

  • The last step of AILET registration is the payment of AILET application fee.
  • Application Fee for AILET is different for different categories.
  • Candidates have an option to either make payment in online or offline mode.

AILET Exam Pattern:

  • AILET 2018 exam will be of 90 minutes
  • The exam will be of 150 marks
  • The Number of questions:

        B.A.LL.B (Hons) – it will have 150 multiple choice questions (MCQs)

         LL.M. – It will have 100 multiple choice questions and one essay type question on law

  • There will be no negative marking for wrong answers

The duration of the exam will be 90 minutes carrying a total of 150 marks.

Exam Syllabus:

Question paper for B.A, LL.B (Hons.) programme will include questions from General Knowledge, English, Reasoning and Elementary Mathematics, and Legal Aptitude.

LL.M. paper will have questions from Constitutional Law, Law of Contracts, Law of Torts, Legal Theory and Criminal Law.

PhD question paper will have 2 papers: Paper I on Research Methodology and Paper II will be Research Proposal Specific Paper. In Paper I candidates will get 100 MCQs which they need to solve in 1 hour and 30 minutes. In Paper II they will have to submit a research proposal of maximum 15 pages on the topic in which they want to pursue PhD.
