Mining engineering is a division of engineering which studies the techniques for extracting minerals from the natural environment that involves the energy sources, non-metallic and metallic ores and solid fuels. The mining technique involves blasting, production, processing, drilling, marketing, extraction and development.
The role of mining engineer starts from the discovery of mineral resource, processing of mineral commodities, designing and construction of mines, controlling mining operations and transportation of minerals. Mining engineers are not only concerned about extracting minerals from the environment but also has the responsibility to keep surroundings safe from the wastes and pollution occurred during the process of mineral extraction.
