Course Details

Anatomy is the branch of medical science concerned with the bodily structure of humans, animals, and other living organisms, especially as revealed by dissection and the separation of parts.

Anatomy courses are available for undergraduate and graduate students and are typically geared towards aspiring medical professionals, including veterinarians, doctors and nurses. Courses taught in Anatomy in medical schools across India entail the study of the structure of organisms and their parts. Physicians and surgeons are taught at the Bachelor’s level about various aspects such as embryology, comparative anatomy, evolutionary biology and phylogeny as these are the processes by which anatomy is generated over immediate and long time scales.

Coursework is divided into microscopic and macroscopic anatomy and students are introduced to the various optical instruments used for the study of tissues of various structures. Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) is a 5.5-year programme.

Common concepts learned in anatomy courses:

  • Proper anatomical terminology
  • Function of organ systems
  • Basic identification of anatomical structures
  • Observational and data analysis
  • Effective dissection and laboratory techniques

  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 with minimum qualifying marks in aggregate with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as core subjects along with a good score in entrance tests for UG programme (MBBS).

  • MBBS, completed from an institute recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI).
  • A minimum aggregate score of 55% or equivalent CGPA at the level of graduation.
