INDIAN INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE EDUCATION AND RESEARCH (IISER) KOLKATA was established in 2006 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. The central theme of the IISER Kolkata is to integrate education with research so that undergraduate teaching as well as doctoral and postdoctoral research work could be carried out in symbiosis. Nascent but multi-disciplinary as well as inter-disciplinary research structure gives the students an unparalleled experience to gel with scientists and industrialists and a possibility to contribute at the highest level of science across various disciplines. The unique training in promoting world class research with a mandate for nurturing talents for leading research and development and solving complex problems in almost all the disciplines makes IISER Kolkata students special. The acumen of the trained students have been displayed in various fields and they are ready to join research and corporate world and contribute in various research fields and industries like Bioinformatics, Exploration & Mining, Specialty and Fine Chemicals, Polymers, Synthetic Chemistry, Optics, Statistical Modeling etc.We believe that endorsing and appreciating scientific values and mathematical clarity of our students would nucleate a long-term synergy between academia and industry. The hostels are equipped with common rooms and provide ample scope for recreations through various extra-curricular activities.
