NEET 2018: Everything you need to Know about Mop-up Round

Mop up round is the process of seat allotment which is basically conducted after all the rounds are done. As per the norms of Supreme Court, all NEET qualified students can attain mop-up round of counselling in any state against vacant seats through 15 per cent quota irrespective of their domicile.

What is mop-up round in NEET UG??

Two type of counselling process is conducted in India for medical admission. First-round counselling is done by the director general of health services (DGHS) for 15 per cent all India quota seats and deemed and central universities, and the second round is conducted by individual states through state counselling authorities. After two rounds, if the seats still remain vacant then the counselling authorities organize mop-up rounds to fill the vacant seats. Mop up round is the last chance to get a seat in Government College for that session irrespective of lower marks than state cut off.

Eligibility for mop-up round-

This mop-up round is beneficial only for those aspirants who do not get seats in round 1 and round 2 counselling. The qualified candidates who did not get any seat in round 1 and round 2 they are automatically eligible for Mop Up round. For this, candidates are made to do the fresh choice selection. The candidates who have already got seats cannot apply for this.

NEET Mop-up round 2018-

This year, the NEET 2018 UG Mop-up Round Registration will start from August 16, 2018. Candidates will have to complete the registration process within August 18, 2018 (12:00 Noon). To fill the 15% All India Quota Seats, the mop round will end up in 5 days. This is the final round of counselling and no further counselling round will be organized by the committee.  In case any seats remain vacant, the transfer of seats for Deemed/Central Universities/ESIC will take place on August 26, 2018.

Registration for mop-up round NEET 2018-

In the registration process, the candidates have to provide their basic details and submit the name of colleges they want to take admission. Students can change their selected choice before the last date of registration.  You should choose the college wisely by considering various factors like the availability of number of seats, NEET UG 2018 Scores etc.

After the registration process, the choice filling/ locking round will be conducted on August 19, 2018. After this, the seat allotment process will take place. Under this process, the result will be announced on August 20, 2018. Candidates who will get the seats of their choice will have to report the respective college on or within August 26, 2018.
