JEE Main 2018 Counselling Dates Declared: JoSAA Will Regulate the Process

JEE Main 2018 counselling and seat allotment for all the qualified candidates of the engineering entrance exam will start from 15th June 2018. It is organized for providing admission into engineering & architecture courses. Candidates who have qualified JEE Main Exam only they will be eligible to attend the counselling process for seat allocation in all the participating Colleges except IITs & ISM. The counselling procedure of JEE Main will be regulated by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA).  JoSAA will organize counselling for admission to 97 participating Institutions including IITs, ISM, NITs, IIITs, NSITs and other CFTIs for JEE Main (All India Rank) & JEE Advanced.

JEE Main Counselling & Seat Allotment 2018 Procedure involve the following steps:

·         Online Registration

·         Online Choice Filling & Locking

·         Seat Allotment

·         Payment of Fee & Seat Acceptance

·         Verification of Documents

·         Final Reporting at the Allotted Institute

 

Step 1- Online Registration

·         Visit the official site.

·         Enter “JEE Main 2018 Roll No.” & “Password”.

·         Click on the Login.

·         Read the instructions carefully and click ‘I Agree’

·         Fill all the details carefully for the registration Form for JoSAA.

·         Now, Click on the “Submit” button.

·         Read the filled information carefully and click on the “Confirm Registration”.

 

Step 2 - Online Choice Filling & Locking

 Candidates will have to fill and lock their choice of colleges and B.Tech programmers in the order of their preference as seat allotment will be done on the same basis.

Step 3 - Seat Allotment

Candidates will be allotted seats in this step on the basis of their merit, choice filling and availability of seats. But, before the actual seat allotment, mock allotment of seats will take place in two rounds. This will allow candidates to know the seat allotment process and this way, they will also be able to know and choose better preferences for themselves in the main rounds.

Step 4 – Payment of Fee & Seat Acceptance

After the allotment of seat, candidates will have to choose any one of the following options

Freeze – In case, candidates are satisfied with their seat allotment and do not wish to participate in the further seat allotment rounds, they will have to choose this option.

Float – In case, candidates need to keep the seat allotted and also wish to upgrade their seat, they must follow this option.

Slide – In this case, candidates accept the seat allotted and wish to upgrade the course in the same institute, they will have to stick to this option.

Withdraw – In case, if candidates have already accepted the seat, they can withdraw the seat by reporting at the institute allotted before the last round of seat allotment.

 

General Candidates will have to pay the fees through SBI Net Banking/ e-Challan. The seat acceptance fee is Rs. 45,000 and SC/ ST/ SC-PwD/ ST-PwD/ GEN-PwD/ OBC-NCL-PwD categories will have to pay Rs. 20,000 as seat acceptance fee.

Step 5 – Verification of Documents

In this step, candidates will have to get their documents verified at the help centres. The following documents have to be verified by the candidates:

·         Three passport size photographs (uploaded during registration)

·         Provisional seat allotment letter

·         Registration-cum-locked choices for seat allotment

·         Proof of seat acceptance fee payment

·         Photo identity card

·         JEE Main 2018 Admit Card

·         JEE Main 2018 Score Card

·         Date of birth proof (10th class mark sheet)

·         Class XII Mark sheet

·         Udertaking by the candidate

·         Medical certificate

·         Category certificate (if applicable)

·         PwD certificate (if applicable)

·         OCI certificate of PIO card (if applicable)

Step 6 – Final Reporting at the Allotted Institute

Candidates will have to report at the institute allotted after verification of documents. They also need to pay the balance fees in the institute.
