Sri Sri University: Jagini Abhishek on behalf of the University represents India at SCO Youth Leadership Forum, Omsk, Russia

Jagini Abhishek of Sri Sri University, Cuttack, has represented India at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Youth Leadership Forum in Omsk, Russia. Abhishek, earlier this year completed his two years Masters program in Good Governance and Public Policy (Political Governance) at Sri Sri University.


 He represented India as a youth leader at the SCO Youth Leadership Forum which happened from 19th to 23rd of September. He led the discussion and shared his views on global issues and role of youth during the summit and was the head of delegation. He was also on the panel for ‘Youth Entrepreneurship: Creation, Development and Cooperation’ introducing the opportunities for business in India citing the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Start Up India’ initiatives of the government. He was also on the panel of ‘Educational Institutions in the SCO countries: new challenges’.

This Forum is the largest gathering of young delegates from the SCO nations. The delegates come from different walks of life, including scientists, experts, entrepreneurs, senior government officials(youth development programmes), non-profit organizations, civil society, investment specialists, aspirant industrialists, young professionals and media experts all from the SCO countries. The forum took place in Omsk, Russia. 

The youth forum served as a unique opportunity for participants to gather together in an exchange of ideas and best practices and encourage stronger personal and professional relationships. When contacted he said "Due to my interest in policy and international relations, I had accepted the invitation to attend. Currently I am reading more about SCO and international relations," says Abhishek looking forward to contribute to the growth of India through law and policy making. 

"The summit enabled dialogue and communication across boundaries to foster concerted effort amongst the SCO youth towards individual and collective development of our nations” he added. India will be a will be admitted as a full member along with Pakistan from 2017. As the international community has lifted the sanctions imposed on Iran, now Iran’s entry to SCO has become hassle free.

Prof Kamala Kanta Dash, faculty Public Policy and Global Governance, mentor of Abhishek said “I know Abhishek for the last two years and he has shown extraordinary skills to lead on issues of policy importance to the youth. At Sri Sri University he founded National Integration Club (NIC) as a unique platform to celebrate diversity and recognize leadership among students on campus and beyond. I am sure he will be able to learn from and contribute to the SCO youth forum.”
