meritorious girl students to get scholarship under Kanya Vidya Dhan scheme (UP)

The government will give a cheque of Rs 30,000 to girl students who have outperformed in intermediate or equivalent examinations in the state Uttar Pradesh government will distribute Rs 267.30 crore among 89,100 meritorious girl students under the amended Kanya Vidya Dhan scheme, said a spokesperson of state government on Thursday. 

Kanya Vidya Dhan scheme at a glance

  • This drive follows CM Akhilesh Yadav's instructions to officials to launch the program under the amended scheme for the benefit of meritorious girl students
  • The government will give a cheque of Rs 30,000 to girl students who have outperformed in intermediate or equivalent examinations in the state
  • The district magistrates and district inspector of schools will conduct a program in this regard at the district and teshil headquarters between August 16 to 17
  • The scheme has been amended to include students who have outshined in their respective class XII board examination such as state Secondary Education Council, Central Board of Secondary Education, Indian Certificate of Secondary Education, UP Madarsa Council and UP Sanskrit Education Council
  • Earlier, the scheme was meant only for UP Board students.
