                  ICSE  Entrance -  Indian Certificate of Secondary Education

About  ICSE:
ICSE or Indian Council of Secondary Education India is an autonomous educational body which is known for its standard educational pattern that allows students to get quality education without bottleneck pressure that can hamper students’ creativity. This board is recommended as an instructional delivery institution. It also offers distance education programs and hence, students who are staying away from institutions, can get the facility to complete the courses as per their convenience. ICSE India has done a remarkable contribution in education and due to this; students from any part of this country get quality education with a robust learning environment, which makes them capable to fulfill any kind of job-oriented requirement. The most positive aspect of this board is that it analyzes students’ learning requirement thoroughly and balances these with the current job-oriented needs and finally, it designs each syllabus, which gives students requisite knowledge as per their standard.   • The ICSE board was established in 1958 and it was started to replace the Cambridge school certification examination. This prestigious board is run by the ICSE council and this council was registered in 1967 under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.  Later in 1973, it got listed under the Delhi School Education Act of 1973. The board was listed as a body, which conducts public examinations. ICSE board conducts examinations in English medium in India.

ICSE  Syllabus:
Syllabus is a worthwhile learning material, which consists of relevant information as per students’ learning demands and it is generally designed systematically to make students more interactive with the subjects that they need to understand in each standard. Syllabus is structured on the basis of the conclusion of the extensive research, which is usually conducted by the educational boards to evaluate students’ learning needs in a thorough manner. Additionally, the concerned board also analyzes the global trends and job-oriented requirements before prescribing any syllabus. The objective of preparing syllabus is that to make students more familiar with the course or subjects. In short, syllabus shows them the right way to understand the entire course properly. Additionally, it provides the pertinent information, as well. A well-prepared syllabus is the evidence of the standard of education offered by the concerned board.
A well-structured syllabus not only contains the subject matters but also represents the topics allotted for each class, marking process for each chapter, course schedule and other relevant information. Syllabus is equally useful for teachers/ instructors and students. ICSE board is an eminent educational board of India. The board provides a standard educational pattern along with a worthwhile syllabus format. The associated academic experts analyze the current educational needs and review the students’ performance at regular intervals and based on that, it amends each ICSE syllabus in a required manner. The board’s education system gets huge appreciation due to its viable and positive approach towards education.   • The subjects that are offered are divided into three groups. Group I includes Compulsory Subjects — English, History, Civics & Geography, and Indian Language, Group II which includes any two from Mathematics, Science (Physics, Biology, Chemistry) as separate subjects, Environmental Science, Computer Science, Agricultural Science, Commercial Studies, Technical Drawing, A Modern Foreign Language, A Classical Language and Economics, and Group III has any one from Computer Applications, Economic Applications, Commercial Applications, Art, Performing Arts, Home Science, Cookery, Fashion Designing, Physical Education, Technical Drawing Applications, Yoga, and Environmental Applications. All subjects have components of internal assessment, that are carried out by schools, on the basis of assignments/project work, practicals and coursework. There is 20% weightage for internal assessment in group I and II and 50% weightage for group III.
  • In subjects where there are more than one paper (e.g., Science), the marks obtained in the subject are calculated by taking the average of all the papers in the subject. Candidates appearing for the examination have to study six subjects, with one to three papers in each subject. For subject HC&G the paper 1 consists of History & Civics and paper 2 consists of Geography. Science consists of three papers each for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. This makes for a total of eight to eleven papers, depending on the subjects. SSC results are taken from best five of six subjects (out of which English marks is compulsory).
