Radiology and Imaging Technology

Radiology is a branch of medicine that uses imaging technology to diagnose and treat disease.Radiology may be divided into two different areas, diagnostic radiology and interventional radiology. The field of therapeutic radiation, which uses more powerful x-rays to treat cancer, is now called radiation oncology.
Radiology is a field within medicine which utilizes the use of imaging for both diagnosis and treatment of diseases related to the human body. Radiologists use a variety of imaging technologies for example magnetic resonance imaging, positron emission tomography, x-ray radiography, computed tomography to identify and treat diseases related to patients. Mainly radiologists are primarily concerned with medical diagnosis.
Like most medical doctors, it is essential for a radiologist to have a complete understanding of the medical and human anatomy relating to human health. In addition, radiologists must be technically confident as they have to work on computers often. Moreover radiologists must be focused, excellent vision and analytical skills, with a keen eye.
 
Eligibility :
 
UG: 3 years
 
For admission into bachelor’s degree a student must pass higher secondary education or 10+2 with chemistry, mathematics and physics as subjects at intermediate level from any recognized institute/university with a minimum of 50% marks. 
 
PG: 2 years
 
For admission into master’s degree a student must have a bachelor’s degree in relevant field from any recognized institute/university.

For those who are working as X-ray technicians the remuneration various from Rs 5000 to Rs 8000 per month. For junior level therapists the average salary starts from Rs 4,000 to Rs 5,500 per month. On the other hand jobs in private sector are more lucrative. However, it’s significant to note that with experience and skills, a candidate can easily reach higher levels.
